HIGHER EDUCATION
Higher education has never faced more scrutiny. Every policy, every rollout, every decision gets picked apart.
Most engagements end with a report.
TAAPD engagements end with a working system.
Services
TAAPD works with institutions across the full range of academic policy, student conduct, and AI governance work. Engagements are scoped to the institution’s specific situation, from a single workflow review through multi-phase program builds.
Academic Integrity Program Design and Redesign
Full evaluation and rebuild of institutional integrity infrastructure, from policy to adjudication.
Academic Integrity Program Design and Redesign
Full evaluation and rebuild of institutional integrity infrastructure, from policy to adjudication.
Assessment and redesign of an institution's academic integrity infrastructure, from policy language and faculty expectations through investigation procedures, adjudication workflows, appeals, and recidivism tracking. TAAPD has direct experience running large-scale academic integrity systems, including the WVU three-campus system, and the deliverable is a working program, not a report.
Student Conduct and Discipline Process Review
Policy, procedure, and hearing structure review for consistency, fairness, and legal defensibility.
Student Conduct and Discipline Process Review
Policy, procedure, and hearing structure review for consistency, fairness, and legal defensibility.
Review of student conduct policies, investigation procedures, and hearing structures for consistency across cases, fairness to respondents and complainants, and defensibility under existing due process requirements. Engagements can include Title IX alignment, FERPA compliance review, and coordination with academic integrity and residence life discipline pathways where applicable.
AI Governance and Policy Development
Policy, expectations, and supervisory structures for AI use on campus, built to be enforceable.
AI Governance and Policy Development
Policy, expectations, and supervisory structures for AI use on campus, built to be enforceable.
Policy architecture, faculty and student expectations, supervisory structures, documentation standards, and integration with existing academic integrity systems. TAAPD builds AI policy frameworks that are enforceable in practice, not just plausible on paper, and that anticipate the specific failure modes institutions are now seeing in conduct cases.
Testing Center Design and Operations
Integrity-focused design and protocol development for institutional testing centers.
Testing Center Design and Operations
Integrity-focused design and protocol development for institutional testing centers.
Proctoring space design, protocol development, staffing models, incident response procedures, and integration with accommodation workflows, all built around institutional integrity requirements. Testing centers are a specific integrity infrastructure with specific vulnerabilities, and their setup determines whether institutional testing holds up under scrutiny.
Remediation Program Design
Structured post-conduct education for students found responsible for integrity violations.
Remediation Program Design
Structured post-conduct education for students found responsible for integrity violations.
Post-conduct education frameworks for students found responsible for plagiarism, unauthorized assistance, or AI misuse. Designed to reduce recidivism, create defensible documentation for adjudication records, and give conduct officers a structured referral rather than ad hoc remediation. Program design includes learning objectives, scenario development, completion tracking, and integration with institutional conduct systems.
Training Program Design
Faculty AI literacy, student AI literacy, and academic integrity training, stock or customized.
Training Program Design
Faculty AI literacy, student AI literacy, and academic integrity training, stock or customized.
Faculty AI literacy, student AI literacy, and academic integrity training programs, either stock or customized to an institution's policy language, scenarios, and voice. TAAPD's existing modules serve as the base layer; customization covers policy integration, institution-specific scenarios, voice and tone, and visual identity. Delivery is through the institution's LMS via SCORM, through VitalSource for student-pay deployment, or through TAAPD's redemption portal.

Published and presented
Paul Heddings writes and presents on academic integrity and AI at national venues. Recent work includes a November 2025 essay in Inside Higher Ed on the coming wave of AI-generated grade disputes, and a February 2026 workshop at the ACAD Annual Meeting, co-led with Steve Smith, on navigating AI-escalated conflict in academic settings.
How engagements start
Most TAAPD engagements begin with a Rapid Review: a fixed-fee, seven-day assessment of a specific policy, workflow, or program area. The deliverable is a focused written report identifying risks, readiness gaps, and prioritized next steps. Institutions use the Rapid Review to scope further work, to validate direction before a full engagement, or as a self-contained deliverable for a specific decision point.
For institutions ready to build or rebuild, full consulting engagements move directly into program design and implementation, usually over several months, with staged deliverables and working sessions throughout.
